How do I determine if the FAN SPEED CONTROL is working as it should? It seems to always spin and spin at same speed?

SOLVED. IT WAS SO QUIET I COULD NOT HEAR IT.

I push the button on the back (disable fan control) ... it makes no difference - still spinning same speed.

I don't have to reboot into win10 and play GTA5 to see my PS fan speed control is working do I?

I have a Nvidia 1050 and i5 processor - being used as a linux box. I'm not sure if high speed will ever kick in or if it is "always on" and isn't working. Or how many speeds it is supposed to support?

(the whole reason I got a unit with "fan speed control" is lower rpm means longer fan life (i hope) (billions of rotations less when PC is likely running months at a time)

SOLVED. Sorry.

i had moved my 2 HD - and acoustically they are now "noisier" and sound like "older new bearing fans" (i've used quiet sleeve a while). HARD DRIVE NOISE.

Turns out the ASUS ROG is so quiet I COULD NOT HEAR IT. I had to have cover off and put my hand under it: it is working when 0dB button is pressed in: it is real quiet. I could not hear it over the HD.

Also the ASUS ROG 550W does not always run under Linux. It turns itself completely off (at times) - such as when I had cover off.

This reminds me when i got my Freezer i32 CPU cooler, which comes with semi-passive fan. I legit had to look if the fan spinned since i too couldn't hear it.
This is kinda nice culture shock, when you've used with old hardware that makes noise, and when you get modern hardware (fans namely), which are so quiet that you think it doesn't work at all. 🤣
