This is a great review.

What a bizarre product. If the design was less flashy, it'd even have a nice crowd of those looking for portables, even if keyboard replacements were hard to come by (Dell has had some similar products where you have to call spare parts through a very long process to get replacements).

It's a shame, because as an ultra portable, specification-wise, it would make for a souped up one.

The specs are too aggressive for a thin hybrid form. The i9 12900H is unlikely to be running at full potential in such a form factor where cooling is definitely lacking. I’ve used a hybrid before and even with a 15W TDP ULV processor, it was running very hot. So I can imagine a 45W class mobile processor in there, it’ll probably melt the components in there if it’s allowed to run at native power requirement.

I'm so surprised of your closemindedness! I know its a niche but please do not discard it so quickly.
For example, I am the target for this device and I tell you why:
  • aesthetics - its the personal preference but I think it looks really cool, definitely not boring - it is this silly look of the supercar so don't be so stiff ;)
  • price - I'm a Surface PRO user and I'm on the verge of buying a new one. For the price of the Z13 (i9, 16 GB RAM, 1TB + 3050Ti dGPU) I can only get PRO 8 with this specs: i7, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD + iGPU and still won't be able to play my drone racing simulator with a decent FPS. Tell me: am I not saving money here? :D
  • I don't care for the wight that much - being a single slate is more important as the yoga-style solution doesn't work for me.
  • I hope I won't need a cover replacement (I didn't for any of my Surfaces)
Summing up I'm a middle aged man with the desktop for heavier stuff wanting to have a Surface PRO replacement that can play a decent game from time to time.

I am using one of these right now, and many points of this review are spot on, but some aren't or at least are a matter of preference, all in all, a good review.

The machine has more than enough thermal headroom for the i9 due to the rather over-the-top design of the thermals. Which I can only assume plays a big role in the cost of the tablet. Where issues are found is when running both the i9 and the built-in 3050 at full tilt. At that point, you will have some throttling. This is because both the i9 and the 3050 share the same fans and vapor chamber.

To this point, I will argue that without the xg-mobile it is just not a gaming tablet, but more than sufficient for office work. I think that with so many gamers now occupying the same market space as content creators and business persons this tablet has a place in the market, if only a niche one.

The cameras are kind of crap, particularly the forward camera compared to most smart phones. I can't help but think that's purely a software issue though. The results should look much better than they do for the sensor inside

This is from someone that has been using a Surface Pro since 2017. A tablet PC has been a god send for not only productivity but as a note pad, portable library of manuals, and as an extension of my office.

The full blown i9/XG mobile dock is a hard pill to swallow, granted. But lower to the i7 with the RTX 3050 and this is probably the best tablet PC on the market, especially considering the price. Similar spec'd systems and the Z13 becomes a quick front runner. The only reason I wouldnt get the Asus over a Surface or Dell is if LTE connectivity was a priority over everything else. Better CPU, GPU, battery (maybe null due to CPU/GPU), RAM, with a similar or lower price.
