Experts,

Facing some issues with ASUS ROG GL552VW, Asus support (Sweden) is not responding properly except for short cryptic answers. Last month I tried to upgrade my default SSD (128 GB) to a bigger one (256 GB) but the BIOS was not able to recognize the 256 GB SSD. I put the 128 GB SSD back and since then have been facing a lot of issues withe BIOS & Windows Boot Manager.

Laptop: Asus ROG GL552VW,
Intel i7-6700HQ, 2.60 GHz,
16 GB RAM,
Intel HD Graphics 530/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (8 GB)

Issue:

Asus product page lists 2 BIOS updates (v300 & v304). Since I was having issues with 304, I rolled back to version 300. Things are fine so far but I do want to get the latest v304 update as well BUT this is where the problem starts. Asus Download Centre shows 2 BIOS updates.

  1. Version 304 dated 2019/06/06, actual build date is 2019/04/25
  2. Version 300 dated 2017/09/11, actual build date is 2016/06/09
My BIOS already has v300. If I use 'Get BIOS from Web', the tool shows version 304 and 'Release Date' is 2019/06/06. When I click Update, it says 'The format of the downloaded file is not valid.'!

Can someone explain why this discrepancy and how can I get the latest BIOS (Which IS the latest BIOS?)???

Thanks and regards,

SG
