Okay... so I bought my friend's used ASUS ROG GTX 1050 TI (Strix)

I know the basics of setting it up - like making sure it is seated properly, connecting the 6-pin power thingy to the PSU which can accommodate 600 watts or whatever unit of measurement it uses.

So when I boot my PC, I get no display, just a black screen. The motherboard light stays yellow, but I hear a couple of beeps which sounds like an error occurred. I'm not sure what I have to do for my PC to recognize that it has a new GPU in it.

Right now I'm just using the on-board graphics thingy which would be most likely the Intel thing. I can't use this on-board graphics whenever the GPU is attached.

Forgive my lack of technical terms.

Here are my system specs:

- Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
- Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.20GHz Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology
- 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
- ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. P8B75-M LX (LGA1155)
- BenQ G910WAL (1440x900@60Hz)
- Intel HD Graphics (ASUStek Computer Inc)
- 3726GB Hitachi HGST HDS5C4040ALE630 ATA Device (SATA)
- 465GB Hitachi HDS721050CLA660 ATA Device (SATA)
- PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-219RS ATA Device
- VIA HD Audio

Solution
"couple of beeps which sounds like an error occurred"

Any chance you can count this exactly? is it literally 2? this is your motherboard trying to tell you what the problem is.

Once you know exactly how many beeps consult the motherboard manual (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8B75M_LX/HelpDesk_Manual/) and you will find what the problem is.
