Hi everyone, I am putting together a PC this weekend using the ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero. My question is should I use the provided disc with MB drivers or go to the ASUS support site and download drivers?

I am already going to flash with the newest bios using a USB device.

On all of the other drivers, and if the answer is to use the support site, which particular drivers should I download and install to get the best performance from the MB?

Should I use the disc to get started, install the OS, and then go back and update the drivers?

Any guidance would be helpful. In the past I just used the disc and am wondering if there is a better way.

Thanks in advance.

You can install Windows 10 with a local account, install the LAN, audio, and chipset drivers, then switch to a Microsoft account when you get online. If you are unable to download the drivers to a USB stick from another PC, then install the LAN drivers from the disc and download the new drivers. You may not have to update the LAN drivers to the Windows 10 version, but I would recommend you do so. When downloading the drivers, be sure to download the Windows 10 versions.
Go to their site and download the latest versions of your drivers : https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS-VIII-HERO/HelpDesk_Download/

The drivers from the original disc are usually outdated, so downloading them from their official website is more appropriate.

Drivers from the software disc are usually certified for Windows 8.1 and should work out of the box. My motherboard drivers on Windows 8.1 were installed from the CD and work just fine, but for Windows 10, I had to download the Windows 10 drivers. What OS are you running?

I have Windows 10 (64) ready to go. I don't have it put together yet and will start Friday. What is the best sequence and there is quite a few drivers on the support page. Are all of them required? My assumption, and from past build experience, Windows loads some of the MB drivers. Also, I believe I have to install the OS first, correct? I know the bios flash is pre-OS, just not sure if the other drivers can be installed using a USB device prior to the OS being installed.

And I would suggest downloading ALL the latest drivers, with new mobos there are often minor glitches in the origianal version that went out w/ the mobos...also get the latest BIOS. Thus far with my Z170 Hero I haven't really had any problems and have run a number of CPU coolers, DRAM (2400-3200 up to 32GB), as well as a variety of GPUs (including XFipe (290X) and SLI (780 and 980) it's taken everything so far (paired with a 6600K)
