ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero bizarre boot issue

hi,

I just built my new PC in this June, with the parts below

Intel Core i7 6700K Quad Core LGA 1151 4.0 GHz Unlocked CPU Processor
G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB (2X16GB) DDR4-2800 Desktop Memory - F4-2800C15D-32GVR
Cooler Master Vanguard 1000W 80+ Gold Modular Power Supply
ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero LGA 1151 Motherboard
ASUS PCE-AC56 802.11ac Dual-band Wireless-AC1300 PCI-E Adapter
Gigabyte GV-N670OC-2GD
2TB WD HDD

It's been running fine till two weeks ago.

With everything connected properly, and light on the motherboard, the PC won't boot when I press the power button on the case. I then opened the case, press the power button on the motherboard, still no luck. I figured out a workaround by unplugging the power cable to the PSU, waiting 5 mins or so and plugging the cable back. After I've done that, all was back to normal, and I could my PC as usual. This issue had occurred 3 times in last 2 weeks. I am tired of doing the workaround and want to get the bottom of the issue, get it permanently fixed, get faulty part replaced if I have too.

I recon it could be either the PSU or motherboard, but is there a way to determine the cause without replacing the parts?

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks guys!

Thx, that's my next move as well. If with a different PSU, the issue still occurs, does it highly likely mean the problem is with the MB?

PSU comes to mind foirst from your description, sounds like it doesn't reset itself. From there would probably get into BIOS update, check drivers, check DRAM and so on or even benching it, could be a short, there's lots of possibles

Thats a lot of power you have on your power supply, Do you have a cooler on the mobo? Maybe if the Thermal Paste is conductive then it would have fried the motherboard. It's a possibility that you have too much power and a power surge occurred or something.

I borrowed a 750w PSU from a friend of mine, two weeks ago and replace my PSU. The PC has been running fine since.
Before I contact the dealer and get the PSU returned and replaced .Should I test longer or it's pretty certain my cooler master PSU is faulty?

Should I get the 850W one or change to the same 1000W one? I don't think 1000W is a problem but just wanted to check with experts.

1000 is overkill, if thinking SLI down the road 800-850 is more than sufficient
