I plan to go all out this summer doing a major overhaul on my gaming desktop. It's been a while. Hopefully there won't be any supply issues concerning the Nvidia 1080 because that's what I plan to build around. I was all set to keep a major theme: ASUS ROG (even the g-sync swift monitor yet my eyes were catching Acer's IPS g-sync monitor). What's everyone's take between MSI's Gaming and ASUS' ROG components. I hear ROG is just a premium price with a nice catchy name and MSI's Gaming is small potatoes. On the other side; MSI's Gaming made tremendous gains in the gaming department catching up to the "champ" ROG.

Estimation:
Concerning full tower cases; I was eyeing Corsair's 760T
RAM: Probably go back to Corsair
video card: Nvidia 1080 (either ROG or MSI Gaming)
motherboard: Either ROG Maximus Hero or MSI Gaming
PSU- Corsair (they've never failed me yet)
Heatsink: Corsair 115i hydro
CPU- Intel 6700(k)
HDDs- Probably Samsung SSDs (one for Windows 10; the other for Steam games)
Sound- Still on the fence- either the mobo's sound or not sure (probably no SoundBlaster though)
Monitor: Asus ROG Swift or Acer XB270HU (either 1 or 2)
Probably keeping my Logitech keyboard and mouse (gaming- series)

Im eyeing a late June to July build.

personally msi all the way ive never had a issue with a msi product yet as with asus ive had bad video cards and boards

but that is my opinion only based on my experiance

I agree with this. So they will probably stay very close for a while. Just go with your gut on what you are leaning towards.
