[SOLVED] Asus Rog Strix B450-F Gaming vs X470-F Gaming

Hi, I am going to build a new PC and now I stuck in motherboard. In the beginning, I had decided in Rog Strix B350-F Gaming. But a lot of people told me that it would be better to buy a B450 or a X470.
So, I looked for a B350 and a X470 and found 2 that I like (I want Asus' Rog Strix ...-F Gaming). The one is the Asus Rog Strix B450-F Gaming which costs about 160€ and the other is the Asus Rog Strix X470-F Gaming that costs 210€.
So, is it worth paying 50€ more in order to take the X470. Because I can't spend easily a lot of money for some reasons.
And one more question: is it worth buying Rog Strix B450-F Gaming (160€) than the B350-F Gaming (120€). I hsve heard that the B350 after some Bios updates supports 2nd gen ryzen (I want ryzen 5 2600x)
PS: in a web store it says that b350 has 8.1 audio channels and the b450, x470 says 7.1. Is that true?

Hi, I am going to build a new gaming pc and I have decided buying the ryzen 7 1700x. But, these days I saw also the ryzen 5 2600x which according to the user benchmark site, is placed a bit better in the rank, as it has a bit higher score in gaming (4%),desktop (4%) but it is about 12% lower in workstation. So, the 1700x has 8 cores (16 threads) and the 2600x has 6 cores (12 threads), while it has also higher frequency. Lastly, I have seen some videos where with the 2600x they had about 2 to 5 fps better than 1700x on games. So my question is, which cpu should I buy? Is it better to buy the ryzen 7 which has more cores and better workstation experience or the ryzen 5 is better. What do you think??? Thanks in advance...

PS: I will have Gtx 1060 6Gb, 16 Gb ram ddr4 3200Mhz and Asus Rog Strix B350-F Gaming (if that helps)

If you do go for the 2600x , get a B450 board , most B350's don't have a BIOS loaded to boot it.

I would get the 2600x and a B450 or X470 board.

I would go with the 2600x for a gaming rig. The extra cores does not matter for gaming. Unless you are using applications that can use all the threads, then having a good workstation is useless. Any unused threads will just sit idle doing nothing. Honestly, the way games run today even 12 threads is more than you need.

Better to get a few more fps than having a few cores sitting there doing nothing.

AMD will be releasing new CPUs in june which will be better than the current range. If you can wait 5 months do that.

If not, of the two i'd pick the 2600x.

The extra cores wont make a huge difference in gaming.

The main difference between B450-F and X470-F and you could tell from the names are the chipsets. The audio as other onboard facilities as I remembered had no difference since they are the exact same version of different chipsets. If your CPU has an X behind and is a Ryzen 7 or 5, for example 2700x, get the X470. If no, then go for the B450. The difference in the chipset is the CPU overclocking power, X470 is the one for OC, B450 persons shouldn't even think about OC.

CPU is the one chipset mainly controls. It is not like you can't OC with B450, but you might not even tell the difference if you OC the CPU. If you want a choice for cheaper X470, get Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming. Around 110USD. 3000mhz ram is also fine, those are also great for gaming. A bit more economically friendly. BTW, what is your CPU and GPU?

In order to reply to a message, you press the "replay to xxxxx" button on the bottom right corner of a message. X470 gaming pro carbon is a good board, you can buy if you want it, cool lightings.

One advice, don't use Userbenchmark as any standard for any component. I got this conclusion with a long time of pc research.

I am using a Mac. The same old answer, if you want to overclock, X470, no overclocking, X470. if you don't want to spend that much, get B450 carbon ac. It has a wifi card onboard.

What means that? Firstly, does it have already a wifi or you have to buy an adapter or sth like that? And secondly, what does eifi in mobo do? Is it like a regular router? And if so, it uses the mbps of the router?
