I recently purchased this headset and it worked fine. I installed the drivers with no issue. The next day it was working, but didn't work in most programs. It worked on games and groove music, but nothing else. Not even windows sounds would play. I'm very frustrated and hope it can be fixed. Thank you.

Solution
Windows update catalog has some but most appear to be for win 8.1 - https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=high+definition+audio+codec and none released in lsat 4 years?

where did you learn you need them?

one suggested fix is to run this:
right click start button
choose powershell (admin)
type SFC /scannow and press enter
once its completed, copy/paste this command into same window:
Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth and press enter
SFC fixes system files, second command cleans image files, re run SFC if it failed to fix all files and restart PC

what motherboard are you using? Have you got latest audio drivers for it?

Another fix is
Please follow the steps to uninstall the Device from...

Does it use Asus armoury crate? do you have latest version? I assume that is where its drivers/set up is located.

https://www.asus.com/au/Headphones-Headsets/ROG-Strix-Fusion-300/HelpDesk_Download/

https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1040058/

in settings/system/sounds what is the default output device? it will be the one showing under output.

Its likely the default is going to be realtek if that is what is on the motherboard. Mostr systems default to the onboard sound over USB.
yes i do have the latest version of armoury crate and my my default output device is the headset itself.
