I've been holding out for the announcement of the GTX 1660 Ti and am now ready to upgrade from my existing GTX 960. However with current deals, I'm not sure if I should pick up the ROG Strix RTX 2060 for $554 AUD or the new MSI Gaming X 1660 Ti for $436 AUD. Which would provide the greater value long term?

With this upgrade I'm hoping to finally get a high refresh monitor for titles like Rainbow 6, Battlefield V, Apex and Black Ops 4.

I'm running a Ryzen 2600X at 3.8 GHz and have 16 Gb of RAM at 3200 MHz.

For results, the gtx1660ti lands right in between the gtx1070 and rtx2060. So the 1660ti will still afford good possible fps but not upto the level of the 2060. Even though it's a Turing based card, there's no DLSS or Ray Tracing, so if that's options you might want, you'll need the RTX series.

In my opinion you'd be paying for ray tracing and DLSS if you get the 2060. So then you need to ask yourself if those are technologies that you think will have a future and will add to your enjoyment of games.

There will be a framerate increase but is it enough to be worth the extra cost, even when using a high refresh rate monitor? That's a question only you can answer.
