Question ASUS ROG STRIX GL703GE - Backlight Chip on Motherboard ?

I have an ASUS ROG Strix GL703GE that a customer brought in for a new palmrest because some of their keys did not work at all. So on this model, the motherboard is attached to the part of the palmrest that the keyboard is on, so when we got the new palmrest we basically had to completely disassemble the motherboard and move it over to the new palmrest. After the system was put back together, it appears as though the backlight component on the motherboard has gone out. We thought it was the LCD at first so we ordered a new LCD and it also appeared to be non functional...it was only when we turned out all of the lights and used a very bright flashlight that we could see that it was actually at the Windows logon screen and we could tell that this was a backlight issue.

The only motherboard we found for this is from China, is almost a $600 part, and would take about 2 months to arrive according to shipping.

Does anyone have a technical spec sheet that would show us where the backlight chips on the board itself are located? We would like to see if these chips appear to be damaged in any way, and also see if it would be possible to just replace the backlight controller instead of the whole motherboard. We do have an in-house soldering technician with a very fancy setup (microscope, fans, etc) that could most likely do the work, but I have been unable to find anything that points to the backlight components on the board. And just from looking over the motherboard, we don't see any OBVIOUS burnt or broken chips...

Replace the 40 pin cable

Check the solder joints of the connectors

Check the replacement LCD, could be dead as well
