My ISP is not restricting me from opening ports although I decided to buy this router instead which gives me better results in latency and other good features, the main question is could it help with my port forwarding issue too?
Not sure why you think there is some kind of magic router.
A router should have very little to no latency. It is so tiny compared to the delays ones it leaves your house. You might see some delay in wifi but that router uses the same wifi chips as 100s of other routers so they will all work the same.
Not sure what your issue is with port forwarding. Some routers are easier than other to configure but asus has for a while used the same firmware on their whole line of routers. Maybe they have something different on silly "gaming" routers.
In any case the most important thing is you must have a public IP to do any kind of forwarding. You should be able to see the IP assigned to you by your ISP in the wan settings or status page. If this IP is not the same as a site like whatsmyip then you don't have a public IP and port forwarding will never work no matter what router you buy.
The best thing to test with is to use the DMZ option to check if port forwarding works. You can then go back and work on getting the narrow rules you really need. Port forwarding can be very confusing until you have done it a few times. There is also a massive amount of misinformation on gaming sites about which ports you need to use. You have a bunch of idiots that do not understand not blocking ports with a firewall and ports you need to actually forward.
