I just bought Asus rog strix scar 17 (2021)
Model : G733QS-HG056TS.

I want to upgrade nvme ssd to samaung.
I run hwinfo and cpu z.

Hwinfo :
Drive controller : NVME (PCIe 0x 8.0 GT/s)
Nvme version supported: v1.3
Hwinfo main page under drives option :
NVME 4x 8.0 GT/s
Hwinfo main page under GPU option :
PCIe v4.0 x8 (16.0 GT/s) @ [DISABLED]

Motherboard : ASUS G733QS
Chipset: AMD Promontory/ Bixby FCH

CPU-Z:
Cpu Tab :
Processor : AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX

Motherboard Tab:
Model : G733QS 1.0
Bus Speces : PCI-Express 4.0 (16.0GT/s)

Graphic Interface:
Bus : PCI-Express 4.0
Currunt link width : x8
Max supported : x16
Currunt Link Speed: 8.0 GT/s
Max supported : 16.0 GT/s

Asus official website showing this model have
Two nvme slots (1tb+1tb)

So, my question is.

This model can support Samsung 980 pro nvme?
(PCI Express 4.0 and nvme version v1. 3c)

7000mbps read and 5000mbps write?

I dont want to use samsung 970 evo plus if this laptop supports PCIE 4.0 nvme.

I wish to add two Samsung 980 pro 1tb ssd on each slots. I will clone existing os to new drive. And dont want to use existing nvme.

Question 1: Will samsung 980 pro support on this model? Will i see this in bios?

Question 2: Will i get full speed 7000mbps read 5gbps write (theoretically)? Or nvme will run downwards to pci 3.0? (half speed)?

Also i know about it will consume more power and heat..

Im planning to buy a small heatsink for this nvme.
Also i checked that, 970 evo plus if getting high temp than 980 pro. (youtube video).

So i really want to buy samaung nvme ssd for my laptop. And i totally confused which to buy.

Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1tb *2 (Gen3)
Or
Samsung 980 PRO 1tb *2 (Gen4)

Really want to 980 pro..

Kindly replay me anyone who knows full details of this laptop. Or whatever i wrote here with my config.

Thanks,

From what I am reading the m.2 slots are pcie3x4.
Grab a copy of crystal disk info and post a screen shot of the results.

Crystal disk info will show existing nvme. Which is gen3. 0 and that is come with laptop.
Im telling you. Everywhere in cpuz and hwinfo im reading pci gen 4 so i want to know that my laptop will support pci 4.0 at x4 mode (7000mbps) or not?
