The people who will buy this board definitely don't caretabout on board HDMI, since they will use ryzen, not the APUs

I know I don't care about the loss of the onboard hdmi, I'll be using a dedicated gpu anyways. What I will miss is the lack of an optical port and no type-c usb port.

APU for AM4 socket are coming soon ... and they will be Ryzen cores + GPU

:ouch:
My previous post vanished ...

My understanding is USB 3.1 Gen II is the standard, and USB-C is the new reversible-type connector (typically for mobile) which may operate at Gen II standards but is not required to do so.

So ... DisplayPort & HDMI video may pass over USB 3.1 Gen II.

I doubt that you can get 4k/60 fps using USB 3.1 .. Thunderbolt 3 yes , but not USB 3.1 Gen 2 .

Quote From ASUS site;
"Without display outputs, the boards are designed exclusively for gaming rigs with discrete graphics cards, which is basically all of them."

yeah right and they lost millions customers who want that tiny port when the AMD Ryzen APU is released.

they did not even bother to add one on the cheap B350 chipset which is ideal for HTPC

In what world are there millions of people looking to put a mainstream APU into what are likely going to be $150 and $200 gaming itx motherboards. And did you forget there are already multiple ITX boards for around $100 with display outputs?

The B350-I is not $200 ... I dont know where you got that price from.

I don't know why you assumed the lower end of the two boards would have the higher of the two prices I mentioned. Prices on the B350 were originally rumored at $200 though I though it would be more like $150 for the B350 and $200 for the X370.

And guess what, "The ROG Strix X370-I and B350-I Gaming series will be available from the end of October in the UK. The x370-I will be priced at £184.99 while the B350-I will cost £157.99." The B350 is even more expensive than I thought.

Since Ryzen still requires a dedicated GPU (for now), I'm not surprised to see this. The bigger question for me is X370 itx with same number of USB ports as the B350 board?? Primary reason for X370 over B350 is Dual-GPU which isn't possible on itx boards. At least if they had taken advantage of the more USB ports available to X370 that would have been SOMETHING.

UK prices include 20% taxes unlike the US prices ... and prices in UK are crazy high the worst in Europe.

we will see the Prices soon . I doubt the B350-I will sell more than $150 .

AMD is advertising the AM4 platform to last until 2020 and work with every CPU that will be released .. it is stupid that Asus does not add HDMI to an itx motherboard.

and yes I dont get the idea behind 100% similar motherboards components with two different chipsets.

A gaming mini-ITX Board means that you cant use pcie soundcards. Therefore i cant understand that there is no TOSLINK port on the i/o panel. If you dont want to use the mainboard sound, have fun with usb soundcards...

Quality USB sound cards exist . check Asus Xonar USB card.
