ASUS ROG STRIX z270E or Maximus IX Code?

Fancy pancy lights and a few minute features you don't really need.
Another M.2 slot, slightly higher max RAM frequency you won't ever use, BT 4.1, a bunch of hardware buttons on the board itself which help for those BIOS flashing and doing insane overclocking, a couple more connectors, some more ports and a bunch of Asus bloatware.

Strong ABS Top Cover, Stylish thermal protection that blocks heat from graphics cards and ensures lower system temperatures for better performance and chic looks! Better Audio Codec. Better overclocking. More features. MAX RAM and M2 slots are same by the way. More indepth comparison here... https://us.hardware.info/comparisontable/products/377817-375172
Whether it is a justified purchase or not, actually depends on your budget.

Solution
But the fans from GPUs blow downwards, so I don't see what 'thermal protection' is going to impact apart from that small bit of hot air that briefly touches the motherboard. 😛
So a stronger top cover, better audio codec, a few connectors the standard user probably won't use and a higher power phase design pretty much. Asus marketing is pretty bizarre at times i've gotta say, lol.

And thats why i said, whether it is a justified purchase depends on the budget. It not justified for a $1500 budget, but definitely justified for a $2500 budget.
But there are other features as well on that board that is lacking on the E gaming, like Q Code reader, clear cmos, etc. I personally find the Qcode reader very helpful on boards.

The Q-Code LED design provides you with a 2-digit error code that displays the system status.
Its the problem dignostics panel. In case there is an issue with boot, the panel will reflect the relevant error code, which you can check in the manual to instantly diagnose. Saves you from going through all the tests eliminating each component part by part.

Ah, okay, I see.
That's actually a really cool feature, don't know why they didn't put it on higher end boards sooner, not like the tech wasn't there! :)
If you're going into a high end build with like a 1080Ti and 7700k and you have the cash to blow, you'll probably want that feature.

Yeah, right now its only exclusive to high end boards. Maybe few years down the line it will be a standard feature.
Anyways, so i would rather leave the choice to the OP now. As i said, its more relevant to the budget to get those features.
The OP is not responding anymore.

Get a Code over the z270E , the CODE has SONAR 3, which allows you to use multiple audio outputs at once, you can use your headphones, speakers and hdmi for audio all at the same time.

Also has ASUS ARMOR, this makes the board more so much more durable and looks nicer.

& also has wifi + bluetooth. & as for the network has network routing, you can also combine multiple networks into one (neighbor's wifi + your LAN ) for max speed. Very neat that CODE. HERO has these too but not the ARMOR or the wifi or the bluetooth
