The Asus ROG Swift PG278Q seems the top choice for gamers.
Fast response, good image quality, G-Sync, good casing and so on.
However it is not panorama, 4K and neither curved.
Should I pick the Asus ROG Swift, or there is something big coming before 2015 that I should consider waiting for?

Well if you want a 4k Gaming monitor the "Acer XB280HK 4K G-Sync Monitor" for $800 is the monitor to go with, but it only has a 60hz panel. There are other 4k tn panel monitors out there that cost $500-$700 but in that price range you might as well invest in gsync considering you probably will have the monitor for a few years.

The "Asus ROG Swift" costs the same price of $800 but isn't 4k, but it does give you a 144hz pannel and a 1ms response time, so if you play fps games heavily this one might be better for you.

You might also want to consider a Korean monitor for $300-$350, i use a "Crossover 27QW" korean monitor for production and gaming and i can tell you from personal experience it is an amazing monitor, and when i compare it to my best friends ROG Swift i don't see where i would justify spending 2 and a half times the price for it. you might not get Gsync or a super fast response time, but you do get an IPS panel with a 5ms response time and a glossy finish that makes games look really good
