I am wanting to buy a Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q, but am deeply worried due to the massive amounts of complaints of this monitor failing within 3 days - 3 months after receiving it . i am wondering if there is a legit defect with this product or is is just some sort of freak accident that is happening with users.

i really want this monitor but am very worried that i am going to spend 800$ on a monitor just for it to break

Solution
I've got the ROG Swift and have had no problems with it. ASUS has excellent support and warranty service so if you happen to have an abnormal issue they will take care of it. As ImDaBaron said, don't listen to the negative reviews. They are exaggerated.
I dont read those reviews. Some of them are extremely exaggerated or made by people who have no idea what they're talking about. What's the system your going to using this with? I think Asus is set to release their ROG 4K version soon.

i am going to use it on a system with a evga gtx 980 classified or titan x, most likely the 980 classified. ya some times you can tell if the reviewer has no idea what there talking about but the reviews seem legit and the problem is the same across all of them so i cant help but be paranoid, and by soon, how soon do you mean with the ROG 4K

Apparently not until Q2(so maybe the summer). So it's a little bit of a wait. Acer has a 4K monitor with G Sync for the same price.

i figured that and thats kind of why i came here to ask people who actually know what there talking about, thanks. gtx 980 or titan x is more than enough to run that right?

Yep for sure. I had no issues at 1440p with either.
