Question Asus ROG Zephyrus M GM501 output to 240hz monitor

I recently got the Acer KG251Q 240hz monitor and am using HDMI 2.0 with my Asus Zephyrus gm501 with the 1070 but only can get up to 120hz I've checked the monitor and it supports 240hz HDMI and I've checked my laptop has an HDMI 2.0
so any help would be appreciated

At what resolution? That monitor is a 1080p at 60hz monitor I thought.. At what resolution are you getting 120hz? Sorry the Acer website gives conflicting info. https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/search?q=Acer KG251Q 240hz&sec=product
So Hdmi 1.2 120hz Display port 240hz And Hdmi 2.0/better known as 4k hdmi cable 240hz.
Are you using a 4k hdmi cable?
