ASUS RT-N12 router slowing down internet speed

Hello Guys,

I recently bought an ASUS RT-N12+ router and it seems to slow down my internet speed. My internet speed is 100 MB/s but when I download something it is only like 50-60 MB/s. I contacted the internet provider and they told me that I should connect my PC directly to the modem and it actually worked, I get 100 MB/s that way but if I connect the router it's about half. I am not really an expert in this so I don't really know how to solve this issue.

Thanks in advance!

So the WAN port on that router is only 100 Mb/s. That's theoretical, so max real world data rate will be a bit lower. That also means that means that if more than one device is connected and consuming bandwidth at once, the max bandwidth to any individual device will be lower. I'd try disconnecting everything else (turn off wifi on the router, connect only one device to it via ethernet) and see what speed you get.

sorry, it is 100Mb/s so my download speed should be 10-13 MB/s while it is only 5,3-7,1. I tried with connecting my laptop with a patch cable to the router and the speed was slightly better but still not what I should be getting.
