Hey guys so I bought this new Asus router and I have 1gbs from my ISP but for some weird reason my router keeps capping it at 100 mbs.
It worked perfectly at first but now after a week I see it has issues, I never messed with the settings.
Anyone knows what's causing this? Is my router broken?
It should be able to do 1gbs (via cable) and via wifi almost 200 mbs on my laptop but now it is capped.

I am experiencing the same problem. Didn't know it was happening until I got upgraded to new Time Warner high speed. My previous service was 56/6. My upgraded service is 300/20. If I connect to the TWC modem, I get 300. If I connect through my RT-AC68U, I get 92Mbps. It's throttling me and I can't figure out why other than it is a firmware issue. Nothing I do matters. Have done a complete reset. Nada. I've opened a ticket with ASUS.
I wonder if it is the router..you can always check the settings manually, or even 'reset' the router to defaults with the little button on the back. it 'could' be your OS throttling you with say, a security centre installed, or something odd.

If it worked recently, then try system restore to when it did work, if this fails, then it is likely not an issue with the PC which brings us back to the router. Did you call your ISP to make sure they aren't doing something?

Sorry, no other answers and its' the best I've got right now :)

Check your WAN port settings on the router.

Also you might need to check the modem, it may be throttling what it gives to the router.

Have you tried a different ethernet cable between the modem and router? You need to be sure it's a good cable, some cheap cables don't do so well with gigabit speeds.
