I currently have an Asus RT N66U router set up that the 'normal' SSID I use for my own personal network, while everyone else uses the Guest Network.

The internal network's range is fine for me since all my devices are situated near the router itself. My problem is that the Guest Network does not reach the guest bedroom where most people will be using it.

I've tried using a wireless repeater, but range still isn't sufficient. I was thinking of daisychaining 2 or 3 to get there, but that would result in too much possible problems.

Is there a way to use LAN for the Guest network so I can cable them around the house and use an AP near the guest room?

Or, if it's not possible, can I use a repeater to connect to the guest network, use the Ethernet port on it to connect an outdoor, directional AP so that it points to the guest room?

Don't daisy chain them! You'll (potentially) be broadcasting your network all over the place. Use a directional antennae instead- better control security wise. Though I'm still not sure if that is the best solution. How big is your house?

Why not just drop some cat 5e and make a run close to your dead area and drop another WAP? Just set the Asus to 192.168.1.1 and the second AP to 192.168.2.1 and name it Guest. You'll have two network segments using the same default gateway.

I already updated the antenna but still no luck. The house is pretty big, with the router in the corner office of the house. Walls are also made of thick concrete, so I'm guessing that's a big factor. There's around 5 walls between the router and the guest room.

If I were to upgrade to a directional antenna, wouldn't that mean wherever isn't at the pointed direction, I will have Zero bars?

Using cat5e to connect to another AP, wouldn't that mean that the said AP would be connected to the internal network and not the guest? I currently have all files shared since I have the network all to myself. And wouldn't the router to assign IP and not the AP?

Can you expound more on DMZ? In my router, it's under WAN and not LAN, and just has one option as to which IP address to assign it to.
