[SOLVED] Asus RT-N66U: Help determining the right replacement antenna.

Hey all o/ I did a quick search but could not find a good solution to this.

I recently managed to break one of the three antennas off of my Asus RT-N66U. I'm looking for a replacement antenna and I'm unsure which antenna to purchase. On amazon I'm seeing a few different options ranging from 2-9dBi which I believe represents the antenna's gain. The Asus website does not list the dBi measurment of the antenna that ships with the router. How can I determine which antenna is the proper replacement?

If you really want to know they have to file it with the FCC when the device is certified.

In most cases it is in the one of the test reports. There is massive amounts of information.

In general antenna are pretty much pieces of wire. The length determines the gain so a antenna the same length will have the same gain. So if you just want to guess get one about the same length and it will work.

Thanks! I was actually able to find the antenna gain by digging through this documentation. Thanks for the tip, I didn't know this kind of information was available. I was concerned with getting the wrong kind, in my experience with wireless microphones sometimes putting the wrong antenna on the transmitter will cause problems.
