Hi People, I have a MOBO ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 with a FX8350 cpu. I will buy a new graphic card and I was thinking in a RTX 2060 or RTX 2070, but both says that only work on PCIE 3.0 slot, do you know if one of these card will work on my mother board? (I know that is time to change the mother/cpu, but maybe next year)

The GPUs are:
ASUS DUAL-RTX2070-O8G and ASUS ROG-STRIX-RTX2060-A6G.

My PC:
CPU: FX8350
Mother: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
Ram: Corsair Vengance DDR3
Video: R9 380

Many thanks !!

Yes it is backwards compatible and you wont notice that much difference of performance. But your cpu will bottleneck these gpu's anyway and if you will upgrade your cpu/mobo/ram in the next year than nvidia will release the next generation...

Yes it is backwards compatible and you wont notice that much difference of performance. But your cpu will bottleneck these gpu's anyway and if you will upgrade your cpu/mobo/ram in the next year than nvidia will release the next generation anyway seems that is not worth it. Maybe its better to find a good deal for like a used 970 , 980 , RX 570 or something like that and stay with that until next year because even if you get a 2070/2060 with this cpu the performance will be the same with a 1660/1060 anyway because of the cpu limitation.

Thanks Stefanos, please note that Im from Argentina, so, It's very expensive to upgrade the PC, jajaja.
I was thinking into upgrade the VGA since I could buy one of those VGA refurbished for usd350 to 420 aprox (here in Argentina, the 1660ti is about usd400)

There’s no point in getting these cards on an FX CPU, upgrade your CPU instead

Hi Lordvile

I can't buy a cpu fom USA, only in Argentina, and, for example, cpu Ryzen 5 + motherboard + 32gb DDR4 is about usd 900 more than the double of buying only the VGA (I can buy the VGA from USA).

Today, with my actual PC the botteneck is the R9 380, so, I was trying to upgrade first my VGA and then, save a few bucks and try to upgrade the rest of the computer, I don't want to buy the best PC aonly a good pc for gamming.

Also, my monitor is not 4k, I believe that is the LG W2252s and the maximum resolution is 1680x1050. I just want to play at maximum quality with this monitor.

Games now rely on having strong cores you dint need something new, even an older i5 like a haserll would improve things massively. I really don’t know what you could upgrade to that would play well with that CPU.

Are you sure that's where the bottleneck is? It seems to me that the R9 380 shouldn't have much trouble with that resolution. Have you monitored CPU and GPU utilization to confirm that the R9 380 is getting pegged at 100% usage?

Also, when monitoring CPU, should do it on a per-core basis. ie: with 8 cores, if two get maxed out and the other six are left sitting idle, it would show as 25% CPU usage (something like this is possible, for example, with a game doesn't do multithreading very well)
