Hello,

My question is:

I recently purchased the following:

  • Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z490-e Gaming
  • GPU: Asus ROG Strix RTX 2070 O8G Gaming
  • Case: be quiet 500DX
The case came with 3 fans. I purchased 2 extra fans.

But, the motherboard has only connection ports for 2 fans! So....I am using a Y-cable splitter and thereby, have connected 4 fans to 2 ports on the motherboard.

But....I read that the GPU has a so-called Fan Connect II, where by you can connect 2 case fans to the GPU.

Is that wise? or do-able? (so the idea in that case will be to connect 2 case fans via a y-splitter to the motherboard, 1 case fan directly to the motherboard, and 2 other case fans to the gpu).....

Thank you.

Interesting feature. Yeah, I'd definitely take advantage of that with the 2 fans that would benefit the gpu the most since if it turns these on, it needs the airflow and the built-in cooling isn't cutting it.
