I just got an SSD for Christmas and when I went to install it I turned my computer off and tried to reboot it to make sure that process was working and I got nothing. The computer would start up normally but then then the boot device led would come on and and nothing would show on the monitor. So I unplugged every USB and SATA device because that is how I solved the problem last time this happened but I still got nothing and I can't figure out what the problem is.

I believe the issue is that it doesnt boot up at all, even with no hard drives plugged in. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think at that point it would at least go to the BIOS?
------------
So it doesnt even go to BIOS, correct?

Do things light up? Fans spin up and everything? Are there any red led staying lit near anywhere? (or is it still just boot device)
Which ssd did you buy?

*This probably won't help, but make sure you didn't knock out the screen cable, and that it is all the way in

I have checked the video cables and they are in.
It doesan't even go to bios
all the fans spin up and everything sounds like it is running correctly it just doesn't load anything. Just the boot device led lights up after the DRAM led goes off
I got the sandisk 256gb ssd but the computer won't even boot when just the old drive is connected. and for reference the old drive is a 10k seagate velociraptor 150gb

I answered the questions in the other reply but I just tested something and made a little progress.
I had a 1440p monitor connected through dual link dvi and a 1080p monitor connected through hdmi to my 670. I changed that out with a 620 I have and i only connected the 1440p monitor and still got nothing but then i changed that out for a smaller monitor with dvi and the bios loaded so I am going to try and work with that and keep you posted.

Turns out I am stupid. The 1440p monitor which is my main monitor has been off the whole time so that is why nothing was showing up.
The boot device light was showing because I had to run windows startup repair to fix the os.

Been there. I thought I had messed something up when building my computer, turns out the screen cable wasnt jammed all the way into the socket and so the screen couldnt detect the signal

Still, it's always a relief to know that it everything did indeed work
