ASUS Sabertooth X58 Won't Boot

I put together a computer today using an ASUS Sabertooth X58. Got everything in and powered on, yet nothing appeared on the monitor. Looking inside, the RAM light is on indicating a problem. I tried every possible combination of RAM, used RAM from another computer, and even tried single RAM sticks to no avail. I removed everything except a single RAM stick and the video card yet still nothing happens. Is there something wrong with the motherboard? To be honest, my finger slipped when placing my CPU in such that I touched the connecter pins on the mobo. Could that be causing this issue?

1600 MHz 7-8-7-24-2N @ 1.5v

1. BIOS:
AI OC Tuner -> XMP

2. Failure:
AI OC Tuner -> XMP
DRAM Voltage -> 1.5~1.6v {ideally 1.50v-1.55v}
QPI/DRAM Voltage -> 1.25~1.35 {ideally 1.25v-1.30v}

3. Failure:
AI OC Tuner -> Auto
DRAM Frequency -> DDR3-1600 MHz
DRAM Voltage -> 1.5~1.6v {ideally 1.50v-1.55v}
DRAM Timing Control {enter}

I own one,then another then another.......Wish I had chosen another model now

I have searched ASUS's forums and found a post that might help you with your problem (but whenever I view the forums, it shows my profile-as I'm a member {meaning I have my motherboard registered onsite} and I don't want others to be able to see my personal information-e.g. passwords, etc.)

To make a stupid story short; I will point you in the general direction and give you the name of the post you're looking for, then it's up to you to do the legwork (so to speak).

The 'RED" LED can have a few origins. If it were 'me' I would pull the MOBO and breadboard, make certain that ALL of the power is connected e.g. 8-pin CPU, 24-pin main, and whatever PCIe power is needed for the GPU.

My hinkling is a short. You have to go out of your way to bend a CPU pin, but if the breadboard fails then pull the CPU and take a careful look; hopefully you didn't over use your thermal paste...

BTW - I 'assume' the PSU is good and of adequate size with an 8-pin...

Yes all the power is plugged in and it does have a 8-pin. After tinkering around last night, I ended up stripping my case of everything and placed the mobo on its box. I plugged in only the processor, power plugs, and speaker and got lights up for my RAM and VGA, as well as beeps signaling no RAM. Placed a stick of RAM in, and now only the VGA light turned on. Placed my VGA back in and surprisingly, it booted. Everything was running great after I replaced everything until I realized that my BIOS and Windows were only recognizing 2GB of my 3x2GB of RAM. However, CPU-Z sees all 6GB. I decided to troubleshoot faulty RAM by testing them one by one in different slots. However, this caused my RAM LED to be lit up again even if I reverted back to the original set up. Once, again, I had to remove and replace everything to be able to boot and here I am now. Truly at a loss!

It seems clear'ish to me that during production they did a lousy job of degreasing the connections. To bend without ripping the machinery is oiled/lubed, then it gets washed and finally installed. <OR> maybe you're not seating everything; don't baby it too much.

Get Isopropyl alcohol and pull the RAM, clean then wet the connection on the RAM, place into the DIMM slots; repeat twice per DIMM used.

I assume the RAM is installed in the proper slots as below. Often this happens on 1.65v RAM, so please post the EXACT RAM and I'll look up it info and give you some BIOS adjustments.

Thanks the help, guys. I tried every suggestion to no avail. Even worse, after removing and replacing my RAM so many times I got the dreaded LED to light up once again. I will be RMA'ing this board and I hope the next one works! Thanks again, all!

Keep the RAM OK button pushed in for Minutes if you have to. I had same problem but just held that button down and after 4 and half minutes

i have the same problem. so i try to clear RTC RAM (3-pin CLRTC) Jumpers, is should show u how to do it on the moterboard book
it should be on chapter 2 page 2-22.
1. turn off the computer and unplug the power cord.
2.move the jumper cap from pins 1-2(default) to pins 2-3. keep the cap on pins 2-3 for aboyt 5-10 seconds,then move the cap
back to pins 1-2.
3.plug the power cord and turn On the computer.
4.hold down the <Del> key during the boot process and enter BIOS setup.

IT WORK GREAT FOR ME AFTER I TRY IT. HOPE IT WORK FOR U.

I am having the same issue with my x58. I built the machine plug it in and nothing. Just the green led came on. RMA the x58 and install the new one. It fired right up and I installed win 7 and so on. Next day turned it on and nothing not even the green led. Bench tested the power supply, dead. (500w). Purchased a new supply hooked it up and the computer came on for 2 seconds and then shut off for about four seconds then comes back on for 2 and the red led of death was on. Was not on before when it was running. Took it all appart, new therm paste and so on. With just the CPU and one stick same problem. Tried it with and without the memory, with and without the video card. It will stay runnung if I hold memory button but no video. Screen says no signal. Spent a lot of money on the very unhappy.

The memory is two sets of Kingston HyperX 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) XMP Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C9D3K3/12GX.

Video is SAPPHIRE 100283-3L Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Processor is Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor BX80601950
