asus sabertooth x79 & corsair compatible ram ?

Hi,

I have an Asus Sabertooth X79 MOBO & even thought this model of ram is not in the compatibility list I hear it will still work with my MOBO. Is this true ?

They should be fine, however going a 2x8GB set will only run in dual channel, the X79 is designed for quad channel, the 4x8GB set would be fine also and run in full dual channel, also if contemplating getting two of the 16GB sets, would advise against it, no guarantee the two sets will play together, may have to set up manually (if they will play) as the XMP programmming for advanced timings is done by the packaged set, i.e. with the 4 sticks, it might take a tRFC of 255 where the 2 sicks may only require 208 or so
