Wow, that's beautiful. I want. Id like to see them make a Micro ATX version of this board that has as much attention to detail in it as this one.

$400+USD motherboard just doesn't make sense to me... but it is a nice board...

Nowhere in the article did they say $400+. In fact, they said, "Asus did not reveal pricing or availability."

Go take a look previous Sabertooth pricing. There is no reason this one will sell cheaper. And how much do you think this board will be?

I'm guessing $239.99, because that's what my newegg invoice said for the z77. Also I bought a z87 gryphon mATX earlier this year and it was only $130.

If you bought a Z87 earlier this year, you bought it after Z97 was already the preferred option, so that price wouldn't mean much. I also bought a Z87 Gryphon earlier this year. It was $86. Also, basing your prediction off of Z77 Sabertooth prices seems a bit silly when the Z97 Sabertooth ($300+) is probably far more relevant.

Am I mistaken, or did they only put two USB 3.0 ports on the back? (I'm not biting on calling it USB 3.1 Gen 1 sorry).

Just looked at Sabertooth pricing and...

It ranges from $165 - $270 for a Z97 board. This board isn't meant to compete with X99, so there's no sense comparing prices to those boards. Z170 replaces Z97.

I stand by my previous statement.

I seriously doubt that the Z170 is built to outlast my interest in it. In the upper left hand corner is the corporate office some 100 stories tall where the local corporations come together and manage the boards affairs. The corporate apartments surround the Rugby/Soccer field in the middle with parking on the right and bottom of the field. To the right of the field there are four train transfer locations bringing cargo and workers in and out of the area on an hourly basis. Worker housing has had the foundations laid to the right of the train transfer. Bellow the field is airfield storage and secondary train transfer. At the bottom of the airport is still more corporate housing with additional worker facilities having the foundation laid as well.....When is the next flight from ISO City arriving?

Saw the title, clicked my way in and was disappointed....was hoping for another Sabranco ($270). And geez, hasn't there been enough articles published about the effectiveness of the Thermal Armor w/ fans that this advantage is still being questioned.

I had an ASUS Sabertooth for 990FX (Gen3/rev2). I ran an FX9590 and an R9 295x2 with a 1200 watt P/s. They were stable and cool-running, with a Kraken X61 for CPU (of course, GPU is already liquid-cooled).

The board lasted two years, and it is the only system board I have ever experienced a failure with. It took two hard drives with it.

This is the same version of the Sabertooth MB that purportedly damages Intel CPUs, isn't it?

ASUS can keep their "super-reliable" products.

While satisfaction with Asus products has been sinking of late.... one look at the number of 1 egg review ratings from owners on newegg is all that is needed to confirm this, the Sabertooth and WS lines were two that still held up well. However .... no. of reviews in total in ( ) ...

Hopefully, they will recover... mo doubt they have become aware of the reception last couple of generations and will return to pre 2012 form.

"Two small fans take care of moving air underneath the shield."

One thing I've learned over the years is that the small fans usually die first, usually because they get choked by dust that the bigger fans muscle through & disperse more easily.

So color me not impressed by something that is likely better served by just having better airflow design engineering.

What does LGA 2011-V3 do better than Z97 that you think is applicable to 98% of PC builds ? Especially when the considerable overclock ability of the 6700k is taken into consideration ... as well as the cost premium for LGA2013.

Here the 6700k wins more than it loses and that doesn't include gaming
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1543?vs=1320

Here the 4790k also wins more than it loses
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1260?vs=1320

Both have their advantages depending on applications being run but the LGA 2011 platform is less relevant to the majority of folks than Z97 / Z170 will be. I have often used workstation class Asus boards in gaming builds, when going for high overclocks.... tho less since Z87 as quality / service started to go south. I would again, if they return to form.

Pretty board, just like the last generation, full of useless fluff with the exception of the back plate.

Those twin fans really SUCK ass as far as temperature and noise is concerned. I had them removed after a month. My friend also unplugged his due to intolerable noise levels.

I hope ASUS improved the fans they use because the ones on my board are nothing but noise generators with absolutely no effect on temperature at all. If anything, all that nice plastic armor trapped heat much better than my cheaper motherboards.

Kudos on the design though, it does look very pretty. Hopefully they remember to include enough plugs for every single port this time around.
