Asus Starts Industry's First Fully-Automated Graphics Card Production

Asus is a business, and they're in the business of making money. Minimizing costs is one way to be more competitive in the market. Right now Asus products usually cost more than competitors strictly for a brand premium, particularly in the lower-cost mboards. If this allows them to bring pricing into line with the other GPU vendors, it helps them stay in business.

What if he makes his own clothes, using wool from his own sheep and grows his own coffee beans and bananas? He probably also does all the work, sets his own hours, and lives in a huge self made and very comfortable house. Doesn't sound like unfair conditions at all.

Oh I forgot to add, hopefully with this improvement in quality I can put Asus back on the radar. Their higher cost and lower quality has made me avoid them for years now.

I'd consider them higher cost / same quality right now. I don't recall having an Asus product ever fail on me, but I haven't had many products from other companies fail on me either.

Excellent! This is capitalism and competition at its finest! This will definitely make folks migrate towards them.
Dude there are still tons of jobs running the line, loading the many smt machines, maintaining them, maintaining the reels, testing the equipment and products and much, much more than just people sitting there soldering. For you ignorance is bliss I guess.

Things are changing. Compare user reviews on newegg from Z87 to Z97; the number of (one egg) negative reviews is up 50% or better. The Rampage Extreme IV (I have 2 of the older models) has more warranty fails as a % of units sold than any other board on the market

Even less jobs for people. And i bet it won't mean lower prices. Questionably better quality for certain job losses. It's worth it, at least for the owners.

Utter rubbish, manufacturers, like where I work, have been using fully automated pcb assembly for years now.

"The new production process fully automates all the steps of PCB manufacturing, which includes rolling the spools and manufacturing the MOSFETs."

You mean mosfets use to be manufactured by hand!?
