Hello everyone, this is my first time posting so i may not give all the info i should, anyways last night i was trying to hook up headphones to my front case panel and found out they were not hooked up so i hooked the wire to the front ports on the case and run it down to the motherboard, the only problem is there is no audio header on the striker 2 nse but there is a ADH header so i plug it in there and booted the computer, got into windows and plug the headphone plug into the front jack on my pc case and BOOM, everything shut off on the pc, i tried turning it back on and the fans will come on and a few led lights but now the sound card light is blinking as well as the rog logo. those and the led that are still working are also dim looking compared to what they did look like. The cpu, memory, nb and sb led do not come now, there is a yellow led on for the hdd, im not sure if that was on before or not, but i have checked all components by installing them on my other pc and all work well on that. The lcd post just stays on cpuinit when i try to boot now, except for one time when i took everything out(graphic card, sound card, unpluged usd cords and hard drive) it ran through the boot cycle(on the lcd poster) then said error msg but didnt say what it was on the lcd poster, but i could never get it to boot like that again. please tell me i didnt fry my $330 mobo(what i paid in 2008)! oh and i just bought and added a new corsair tx650 psu. Thanks in advance for any and all help
forget to mention i changed the audio from hd audio to ac97 in bios, and also the pc has been running flawlessly since 2008, i know i was a dumb @$$ for plugging the front case audio header cable into the adh header port, i thought it might work but it didnt.. lol

Solution
that issues two things...there a short in your rig.most time from a dead short you shorting out the mb. there a cap or vrm failure. the other failure would be a bad power supply but you replaced it with a new unit.
yes i tried clearing the cmos, unfortunately didnt work and i think this mobo only has a 3 year warranty so im scrwed on that. i just though about my last psu i replaced a couple weeks ago did the same thing as far as the bottom led would come on and run the fans but the top led wouldnt turn on like it wasnt getting enough power to boot up, is it possible i burnt out something in the psu? if so is there a way to check it?

have to unplug the power supply from the pc..then jumper the green atx wire to a black one then with a volt meter check the outputs. look at your rig..look and smell for anything burnt. if your case used a small board for the on switch and sound see if it melted. try with a jumper or screw driver to short the on switch pins.

i hooked the psu to my other pc and it worked fine so i guess something got burnt up on the motherboard( feeling very depressed) i dont still dont understand why sometimes all the led's will work and the logos inside them obo get bright but they still blink and according to the lcd poster it boots up, it's happened 3 times now but i didnt have it plug into a monitor any time. but thats telling me that it is getting power to all parts of the board, but it only does it once every i would say 30 times turning it on, oh i checked the voltage at the 8 pin psu connector for the mobo and it was 17.7 volts, is that good or bad?

i checked all 8, 4 neg and 4 posi, i started on one end neg at top and posi at bottome and work my way through all and they were all reading 17.7 volts, this was the 8 pin connector that plugs into the mobo
maybe i messed something up in the psu when i plugged in the headphone jack, idk? but it works fine on my other pc, it just a old stock core 2
no i do not have the speaker(beeper) hooked up, i do not know where it goes, the striker 2 nse board is wierd in that it doesnt have a audio header and i havent seen a front panel speaker header either
but that what the lcd poster is suppose to be for, when it does go through boot at the end it says error
but it doesnt say a code or anything, but the lights in the sound card are blinking, i wonder if that is a error code?
its possible my volt meter is wrong, it was reading 17.7 volts, ima go check it again
yes it still 17.7, i guess im going back to tiger and get a replacement psu since it hasnt been 30 days yet and hope that will fix it, thanks so much for your help, i'll let you know how it turns out

ok i exchanged my psu for a new one but that didnt help, so i laid the pc case on the floor horizontal put 1 stick of ram in it, moved my gpu to the white pci express (1.0) slot, hooked up the hdd from my lab top, disconnected the cpu fan, i left the sound card that comes with the striker 2 mobo in it but did not hook any speakers to it, and got it to post and actually go into win 8 and got on the internet...BUT the supremem fx sound card light, the rog light, and the blue led's at the top were still blinking, I restarted the pc and it would not post again until about 15 tries later, i took everything out but the cpu and it would still not post anymore, WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS BOARD?! is there a way to post video on here, im not an expert with computers by no means but ive never seen one act like this, im going to take out the case next to make sure it not shorting to the case..very wierd

yes smorizio im 99.9% sure that i shorted out the mobo(i know i was stupid for trying to hook the sound jack into the adh header on mobo) and what is a cap or vrm failure? i havent had the chance to try the board out the case yet but i got it to post and go into win 8 and got on the internet again after about 16 or 17 times turning on and off, the same lights are still blinking and look dim but when i try to restart it from in windows the pc wont turn on again, my question now is if i can get the mobo to post and go into win 8 and get on the internet(this is the second time i got it too get turn on and get on the internet) doesnt that mean the mobo is still good and or salvageble? i also looked at the capacitors and havent seen any bulging at there tops so i guess that is a good sign. I also hooked my speaker up to the mobo and i get 1 long beep then a pause then 3 short beeps then a longer pause and then i get 5 short beeps, i have read on some bios the 5 short beeps are process failure, Also What All should i look for on the mobo when i take it out the case. Thanks for your help guys

update, i got the motherboard to finally boot again and log into windows, this is the 3rd time and i have everything plugged in this time so im actually online using the motherboard right now, but the lights i mentioned above are still blinking and the screen keeps going in and out, but my question is...is there some kind of a free motherboard diagnostic program that can scan through the motherboard while i got it halfway working and online and tell me if there are shorts or non working parts of the board or w/e etc that may be causing the board to malfunction? thanks for your help btw I change my cpu out that was in here and put the one from my other pc in this one and the cpu that i took out of here works fine in my other pc,
