asus strix 7.1 head set not working

okidoki people so i got my strix 7.1 headset today plugged it in and nothing. the lights on the "soundcard" ar all on around the dial but the first one is red and the rest are alternating yellow and orange. the pc recognizes the headset is there and the mic but the soundcard doesn't do anything no buttons will do anything and there is no sound from the headset or the mic. sooooo what do i do

Apparently the Asus Strix 7.1 headset has an underlying issue with both the device and the drivers. In order to resolve the issue Asus had issued a firmware update though the update process in itself is seemingly complex. IMHO I think you should try and return the headset and pick up something like the HyperX Cloud II if virtual surround sound is your thing.

Might I also ask what your full systems secs are inclusive of your OS and connected peripherals? If you're interested in making it work, you could initially try with making sure your BIOS is up to date as well as your chipset and/or USB drivers. If you delve into the firmware update process and end up bricking it, make sure you have the products original packaging in order to send it to Asus for a replacement via RMA. If you've lost the package then the progress road has ended there.
