About a month ago I bought an Asus Strix 970. It makes practically no noise in Battlefield 4. It rarely makes noise in Dragon Age Inquisition. Only sometimes when I switch to desktop after a couple of hours of gaming. Which goes away while gaming.
Then when I play Farcry 4 as soon as I go into an ingame menu or a loading screen (this does not happen at the title screen) it erupts into some kind of Scandinavian Death Metal sound. Then while playing it just stays there. I'm talking about a sound audible from another room in the house. I stopped playing Far Cry 4 because of it. Turning on Vsync helps but the sound is still very audible. (And playing with Vsync on sucks)

If anybody has a solution to this please let me know, it's too late for me to RMA. I didn't think I had any coil whine since I played mostly games that were unaffected by it the first 3 weeks.

Currently thinking of upgrading my PSU or messing around with the voltage. I read it's possible to limit framerate without getting the vsync delay.

If anyone has advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Activate vsync and increase load the GPU make it stressfull but just dont kver do it just slowly stress it. I owned an msi gtx 970 so far no coil whines... getting this cards without coil whine needs luck..

Any luck or solution to your coil whine? I have EVGA 970 FTW, awful whine on AC:unity, H1Z1, and small amount of whine on GTA4 and Alien Isolation. It seems to do it when the power goes over 70%... If i tone it down to 50% power it runs great... should have just stuck with my 750 which runs the same as this F*** card at that power... Kinda dumb to have a powerful card that whines like a pig if it gets used properly... 🙁

It's been about 3 months now that I have the card and the coil whine has completely dissapeared. I didn't stresstest it. I never left it sit overnight on full load. I didn't change the voltage. It just dissapeared by itself! There is hope for everyone with a GTX970 with coil whine!
