Hi,
I have a used gtx 970 (no warranty) and it only works if it is run by a generic windows driver. If I try installing nvidia drivers the windows won't boot. I was using gtx 1070 before so PSU(xfx 650w black edition) shouldn't be an issue.
After putting the card for the 1st time with 1070 drivers installed it run and after 5 minutes black screen with red dots? small stripes? showed and the pc restarted. After 2-3 such restarts it stopped booting the windows and just resets the pc every time it tries to load the windows. I have checked it with another pc with no drivers installed and it run with no issue using the generic windows 10 driver.
Is there anything I could try to make it work?
Thanks!

Solution
Did you try completely deleting every instance of the pre-existing drivers installed from the 1070/970?

Then, do a fresh install of the GTX 970 drivers as they are not compatible with 1070 drivers. There is some sort of a corruption occurring.

Thanks, I will give it a shot as soon as I will have the chance.

Both cards use the same driver package.

It worked (sort of)! I mean I have uninstalled the drivers with display driver uninstaller and am using the gpu with windows drives. I have updated gpu bios and am considering should i try nvidia drivers. Anyways I can work on both monitors and it doesn't restart my pc anymore so thanks a lot!
