Asus Strix GTX 950

I recently built a pc with an i3 6100, gigabyte h110m-s2h, 2 x4gb hyperx fury ram sticks and gtx 950. I insert my graphics card and no signal pops up on my screen but when i remove the graphics card and its just the mobo on its own, theres a display with everything on, i dont know if its my graphics card thats faulty but when i have it inserted, there is a light that comes on the graphics card which makes me think that its not the graphics card thats faulty. Please help me, thanks

Does the card need power from PSU? Should be a 6 pin.
