So I just bought an ASUS STRIX GTX 970. Was about to plug everything in when I realized I don't have the proper power cable for the thing. I was under the impression the card came with one (all of my past cards have), but that's evidently not the case. So what in the world do I need to buy for this wonderful little thing? I currently have this PSU

The PSU came with an 8-pin connector of sorts, but it doesn't match the port on the video card. I suppose there's a perfectly matching 8-pin I could buy off of Newegg or something, but I honestly have no idea what to choose from them. Any help so I can finally plug this beauty in would be greatly appreciated!

The 6+2 connectors on your PSU are the same thing, the extra 2 pin just needs to be plugged in as well.

The 6+2 provide the same amount of power and support as a solid 8. It is just a way for PSU manufacturers to support both 6-pin and 8-pin GPU's with the same cable.

You have all the connectors you need to power the GTX 970 correctly, just use your 6+2 pin. 😉

Haha, oh jeez. The 2-pin connector has been pushed to the side for 2 years now. I didn't even notice the thing was there. Now I feel absolutely silly. Thanks a ton for bringing that up. I probably wouldn't have noticed for a really long time.

Installed and running like the wind. Thanks!~
