Asus Strix gtx970

Guys,
This is my sons current build

AMD FX 6100
ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3
8GB RAM
WINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL 64BIT
CORSAIR RM 850W PSU
AMD SAPPHIRE R9 290 TRI-X 4GB.

The computer will not work with the R9 290 so I asked Amazon UK if I can return it and change it. I have looked at the ASUS Strix GTX970 4gb OC and if they will let me this is the card I will go for. I have done a bit of research and some gamers are complaining about bottle necking with this combination. What does this mean and will it work and work well?

I don't know why the R9 290 wouldn't work with your setup. But as for the Asus Strix 970, I have heard that it is meant to be fairly good and as good as the GTX 980. Maybe try doing a little more research but I think that it would work fine.

It should be fine with your system. I would make sure to update to the latest BIOS. The latest graphics drivers seem to be very sensitive to BIOS issues.
