Ive just built a computer with the following hardware:

Asus z270e (motherboard)
G. Skill 2x8
Asus strix geforce gtx 1078(8gb)
Intel i7 7700k

And I have the monitor that I mentioned above.

I have the displayport cable connected to the video card, along with the USB 3.0 running from the monitor to the motherboard. I happened to pass in nVidia control panel and saw that it's default is 60hz. I thought it was supposed to be at 144hz?

Also, whenever I was running unigine heaven benchmark with gsync on, the monitor started blinking as if turning on and off. But whenever I would turn the gsync off it wouldn't do it. I passed an article from a guy that had the same problem and someone replied that it was because the displayport cable is on the cheaper side and it would fail when it hit a certain frequency.

Should I purchase a more higher end reliable dp cable?, or maybe just change the default to 144hz in the control panel? Although, why should I have to change from 60 to 144hz when it's suppose to be a 144hz monitor.
