Hi there, specially signed up to this forum to post this thread so sorry if there's any duplicate threads by someone else or if I'm not following guidelines.
Gonna get right to the point, bought this laptop in 2013 from Dubai currently reside in England.
Main computer specs:
1TB HDD;
6GB RAM;
1.7 - 2.4 GHz i5 intel processor;
2GB Nvidia 840M
Upgraded from windows 8 to 10 when the update was rolled out (not developers update), had issues in the installation but there were work around's that got the installation done (don't remember what was a couple of years ago), all was good. I am a coder for MTA SA servers so done allot of coding on this laptop while running the game simultaneously. Had no issues whatsoever on windows 8, even after the windows 10 upgrade it was alright just wasn't used to it. Shortly after a few more upgrades to windows 10 I started experiencing 100% disk usage and allot of lag and quite frequently got the blue screen of death. Force shut down the laptop and restarted, issue gone until it comes back a couple of days later. Googled more, sorta solved that issue too. After that, I made a silly mistake riding my motorbike with my laptop in the back box in my bag with a litre of milkshake, when I got home the milkshake carton had split and drenched the laptop. Replaced the motherboard (was fried as it was on sleep mode so circuits were live), replaced the screen (screen was half gone), however the HDD stayed in-tact, mouse, keyboard everything was perfect. However those windows 10 updates kept rolling and it got worse after each mandatory update and shortly after experiencing blue screens of death my trackpad stopped working. Wires are all connected however the device manager does not show the HID Compliant Device, to see that I must click "Show hidden devices" and I see the ASUS Touchpad with an error symbol on it and it greyed out. Error message is "This device is not present, is not working or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)" I've done all the main steps (restart device/delete drivers restart device/check for updates and restart device/change something in the BIOS and restart/manually install updates and restart/roll back drivers and restart/go to ASUS website, download ATK package and restart device and the main resolution, Fn+f9) tried all of that and the mouse still doesn't work. Have also tried disconnecting and connecting again, no use. I don't think the mouse is faulty as it was working after everything and atleast 7 months after my silly milkshake accident it was still working. I have tried all the googling I could and nothing resolves my issue.
My only thought of what it could be is the milkshake stain not being removed well enough causing corrosion on the copper cable it uses that dysfunctions the device, anyone got any thoughts or similar issues or anything I could try that I haven't?
Now that's just the mouse, I've tried reseting my laptop several times removing valuable data all in hope to fix this laptop but nothing works. Lag lag lag, that's not what a 6GB RAM laptop should do especially running an i5 processor and the only person I could point fingers to other than myself is windows 10. Right now the laptop is running slugish, I've given up, it's fine as it is but moments before it was at 100% disk usage and heavy lag. And I bet moments later it'll do the same, current disk usage is 25% and everything is running smooth so it cant even be a virus. If anyone has any solutions please do let me know, I have to do something at some point so best to get any detail possible. Thanks.
