I currently have an Asus RTX 4060 Ti card in the first slot, and a very small card in the bottom PCIe slot. I need this card, so I can't just take it out. I ordered a 16GB ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX™ 5080, but I'm concerned that I won't be able to use it, because I keep reading that it takes up 3.5 slots, which makes me think that it doesn't leave any space for even a small card.

Does anyone here have experience installing this card and can tell me if it leaves enough space for one small card in the bottom slot? My motherboard is the ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING WIFI II

Any fraction of a slot width needs to be rounded up, so that 5080 is essentially a 4 slot card.
There needs to be AT LEAST a slot width or two of space in between, so the top card doesn't get badly choked of air.

You'll lose access to the 2nd/middle slot, is all.

I have been a pc geek for 20 years and this is my current mobo

Board: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. STRIX X99 GAMING Rev 1.xx
Serial Number: 160572517000138
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz
UEFI: American Megatrends Inc. 1902 03/21/2018

You say ...."and a very small card in the bottom PCIe slot" ...... just out of curiosity, what small card are you referring to ?

if you've got the existing GPU in the last slot, you should be able to drop in the RTX 5080 in the first PCIe slot.

For the sake of relevance, what is the make and model of your case?

It's a Blackmagic Decklink card with HDMI and SDI outputs, used for video editing and color grading. It's one of those cards that barely takes up any space at all, so even if one of those three fans in the 5080 would be really close to it, I don't think it would make a huge difference. As long as the 5080 leaves enough space for it.

For those coming upon this thread and wondering the same thing, I ended up getting the 5070 Ti, which it's the same size, meaning gigantic. The problem is not the height, it leaves plenty of space. The problem is the length of this massive card. I have a full tower case and I had to spend like 30 minutes re-routing cables so I could fit this thing. It doesn't even go down like a normal card.

You have to angle it, get it as close as possible to the motherboard, then set it straight to fit it in the slot. It doesn't fit if you just try to lower it straight like any other card. Also, that little support that comes with it is a freaking joke, it's 9.2 cm when extended all the way. The support has to be 18.1 cm, at least in my case, I suppose that changes from case to case. I put a string of zip ties to attach the end of the card to the case so it doesn't hang all its massive weight, just temporarily until I find a better solution.

Does any company sells supports that you can trim to the size you need?

Edit: Yes, they're called support brackets
