Just receive the above MB; my plan is to install two (2) PCIe 3.0 SSDs (Samsung 970 EVO). In reading through the specifications I came across this:

3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ Processors :
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M Key, Type 2242/2260/2280/22110(PCIE 4.0 x4 and SATA modes) storage devices support
AMD X570 chipset :
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M Key, Type 2242/2260/2280/22110(PCIE 4.0 x4 and SATA modes) storage devices support 8 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s)

Does this mean that one of the slots ONLY supports PCIe 4.0? If so, how would that affect 3.0 SSD performance?

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies; I just got off the phone with Asus on this specific topic. They were very helpful, and the answer was:

"yes, both slots are backwards compatible for PCIe 3.0 at full speed"

Hope this helps someone else

HEYMAN, just wanted to tell you THIS really helped me, I needed to check if this mobo will support the latest NVMe so I can buy one in the future... thankssss for posting!! Any idea wich slot would be "better" to use? (only planning on buying one), the one closer to the cooler or the other? XD Thanks again?
