Hello community I have a strange issue looking to get some help to narrow down what could potentially be the issue.

My Setup:
AMD Ryzen 9 5900x
GTX 1660 Super (Current) - Upgrading to RTX 3060 TI

Problem: I installed an Asus RTX 3060 TI Dual OC perform a clean install of the NVidia drivers during the install the screen goes black and then reboots never completing the install, so I decided to use the Slot 3 and the GPU works fine and install successfully but according to manual slot 3 only give me x4 operating mode in regards to it Dual VGA/PCIe configuration for Ryzen 3rd Generation.

The chart is as follows: AMD Ryzen 3rd Generation Processors
VGA ConfigurationPCIe Operating Mode
PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16_1
PCIe 4.0 x16_2
Single VGA/PCIe Cardx16N/A
Dual VGA/PCIe Cardx16x4

Am I reading this correctly ?

Dilemma - Why does my GTX 1660 Super works fine in Slot 1?

I know I'm using a 5th Gen CPU but I'm unable to get an update chart to see what has change if any.

Asus sometimes has issues out of the box with slot #1 recognition of gpus, generally getting the 'White light VGA of Death' error at boot. Slot #1 uses pcie lanes from the cpu. Other slots use the pcie lanes from the x570 chipset instead, so don't immediately get that error. Once the gpu is recognised and certified by bios, it's usually good to return the gpu to slot #1.

Most times it's a pcie setting, the x570 mobo's are fully pcie4.0, your card is pcie3.0 and the bios can get stuck not auto recognizing the difference in the 'auto' setting for the cpu lanes. Using the chipset lanes avoids that, bypassing it and setting bios to run at pcie3.0 for gpu.

If bios has recognised the card, you should now be able to put it in slot #1, if...

If bios has recognised the card, you should now be able to put it in slot #1, if that fails again, put it into another slot, boot to bios and in the pcie settings manually change the slots to Gen3 (pcie3.0).
