The thing I always find with bios updates to support new cpu's is that you never know when you can buy an updated mobo, I mean if you are upgrading the cpu on the same mobo sure but quite often when you don't it gets annoying.

Intel Asus motherboards are fairly predictable which cpu will be supported ever since Intel went to there tick tock update schedule. New microarchitecture will need a new motherboards. Motherboards will be updated to support die shrinks versions of a microarchitecture.

I bet ivy-bridge cpus will post without the update just be an unknown cpu. People still get bent out of shape like we're still in the old days.
