I have an ASUS-V551LB-DB71T and called Asus to check if the CPU was socketed. They looked it up and said yes it was. I then used CPU-z, the CPU is a I7 4500U, socket 1168 BGA. BGA= Ball Grid Array=ment to be soldered to the motherboard. This not the first time Asus has given me incorrect data. I asked about adding an M.2 SSD since I saw a stencil on the Motherboard saying "SSD" . They said no SSD socket is provided. My M.2 SSD is working fine in this CPU for over a year now. What is the Story with a processor upgrade? I want to upgrade the I7 dual core to an I7 quad core so I Can use it with VM.

I am not a huge fan of upgrading laptop CPUs. The current cooling solution may not be good enough to handle an upgraded CPU.

If that is still your intention the only way to know for sure is to take the laptop apart and look for yourself. I have seen two identical models of laptop with different setups inside and with different cooling components.
