Hey guys, just as the title says... which is going to be better for a 5760x1080 triple monitor surround gaming setup? I have the room and like the idea of triple 27" VE278Q, but it is 2ms response time and 120mhz refresh rate vs the 24" VG248QE which is a 1ms response and 144mhz refresh? Will a 1ms vs 2ms response time even be noticeable? Same with the refresh rate, is 144mhz noticeably better than 120mhz? The price difference is negligible for me so that is not a factor. I just would like to know if there will be a noticeable performance benefit from one to the other.

Here are the two monitors specs;
VE278Q
VG248QE

Here are the specs for my rig;
i7 3770k @4.5ghz
EVGA GTX 780 Classified (in the mail but will be OC'ed)
Corsair Vengeance 4x4gb
Samsung 840 Pro 240gb SSD
WD 3TD IntelliPower HDD
Windows 7 Ultimate

Thanks for all the help!

To answer your question, no and no. You won't notice drastic differences between 144Hz and 120Hz, or between 1 ms and 2 ms. And those are both excellent monitors.

*However*, the VE278Q isn't listed anywhere as being 120Hz... Even that product page lists:
Analog Signal Frequency : 24~83 KHz(H)/ 50~75 Hz(V)
Digital Signal Frequency : 24~83 KHz(H)/ 50~75 Hz(V)

You may be thinking of the VG278H or VG278HE, the VG248QE's older brothers. In that case, a 144 or 120 Hz refresh rate makes a *big* difference in gaming over a 60 Hz refresh rate.

Food for thought, hope that helps. I have one VG248QE and I absolutely love it. but don't get the VE278Q thinking it's 120Hz, because it's definitely not listed as one.

Did you get this setup with a single GTX 780? If so, can you report on performance?

I've got an EVGA GTX 780 and three VG248QE's in the mail.

Thought I'd post an update.. the three vg24qe's and the GTX 780 is fairly good. I can play BF4 in 5760x1080 at 60hz on high and it looks great. Also bought an EVO SSD and better corsair 850w ps.

I played BF4 on ultra at 144hz at 1080p on a single monitor and that was just amazing.

Very happy with my vc and monitors.
