So, I just got my new Asus Vg248qe monitor but there's an issue... I go into device manager after going to Asus website and downloading the windows 10 64bit driver (the CD they provided only comes with Windows 8.1, so I don't think I need to use it) and it displays my monitor as
Generic PnP Monitor. I went into Nvidia control panel to try and see what it says and if I can get 144hz. NOPE. It only goes to 60hz but that's not what I want. My computer seems to be registering my Monitor as Generic, which it did with my other Asus (Didn't really care, as it was only DP to HDMI). Oh, and... this is set up DP to DP. I didn't use the DVI they supported me with because I like Display Port. Anywayss... Wondering if anyone could help me with this one. I've tried disconnecting my power cable directly from my power supply and leaving it off for a few seconds, then starting up. Same result. I've tried rebooting only, same result.

And, I have recently just updated my Graphics Drivers to the most recent and up-to-date driver so that can't be an issue.

Small update - I went into Nvidia control panel again and I noticed I was under "Ultra HD, HD and SD". I scrolled down and clicked on "PC" and I noticed my 144hz pop up. So I selected it, saved and I'm assuming I'm now set for it. However, both my monitors (both asus) are coming up as "Generic PnP Monitor" in my device manager under monitors - I hope that's not a problem?

Solution
I have the same monitor they just show up as generic. Try to change the refresh rate through display settings in windows, you should get 144hz.
