ASUS VG248QE: Faint, but noticeable horizontal line has appeared. What should I do?

So, I've been using this monitor for about 2.5 years now, with a DVI connection and running at the native resolution (1920x1080). Refresh rate, unsurprisingly, is 144hz. Graphics card is a GTX 970.

Haven't had any problems with it until recently, when I noticed this blurry, white/gray horizontal line at the top of the monitor. You can see it in this picture linked here. It doesn't go all the way across the screen, which is odd.

Here is a screenshot of it while playing a game. See it? Like 1.5 cm from the top of the monitor.

It's difficult to notice when there's a very bright or very dark background (in fact with a completely black background it isn't noticeable at all). But when playing games or watching videos, it becomes quite distracting.

At first I thought it was burn-in, but it doesn't match up with any of my commonly-used applications' windows. Plus, I always shut down my computer at night, so it's not like I've been leaving the screen on with the same display for extended periods of time.

I unplugged and re-plugged the DVI and power cables, but that didn't change anything.

So what gives? Why would this line suddenly appear out of nowhere now, after over 2 years of use?! Is the screen just crapping out on me or what? Should I contact ASUS and try to get it replaced?

I would GREATLY appreciate any advice or input at all. I'd like to assume the line will just disappear after a while, but I'm worried more are going to crop up!

Oh! I should mention that my 2nd monitor, an older AOC LCD display that uses a VGA connection, is not showing any lines at all. It looks perfectly normal.

Just an update...

I hooked up the VG248QE to another computer and the line was still present.

I also tried a different DVI cable, but that made no difference.

At this point I'm preeeeetty sure the fault is definitely with the monitor itself.

Have you tried switching to 60hz just to see if that makes a difference? Not that it's an optimal solution but just to see if also goes away for you because it does to me.

Dude i have tihs problem 144hz line switch on 60hz and nothing. WTF.

Just make a support ticket with ASUS and they'll send you a replacement. I just got mine

Thank you for this post because I have the same line with my Acer 144hz monitor.
