ASUS VG248QE turns off and on by itself.

The monitor works for a while and then flickers once and turns off. Then it tries to turn itself back on and always flickers and turns off once the ASUS logo pops up.

This might sound stupid but have you tried turning the brightness down a bit?
Issues like these usually comes from inverters or capacitors on the logic boards.
Do you still have warranty on the monitor?

I can't change the brightness of the monitor because it no longer makes it past the ASUS logo, unless there is some other way.
Unfortunately I do not have a warranty on my monitor.

I had a problem like this before, turned out to be a bad logic board. I fixed that and the monitor was working again.

I'd also like to say that my monitor is brand new and I unboxed it today. Am I just that unlucky?

If that's a new monitor, than it's a defective on from the factory. Didn't break from using it.
You can't return it?

I am not sure as I bought it from newegg without getting a warranty. Also, the monitor does not turn on anymore. It doesn't even do the on/off loop. Should I try buying a new power cable? Is there a chance that doing that will fix this problem?

You should check with Newegg, there should be 3 year warranty on that monitor when buying a new one.
And yeah try with a different cable.
