Question ASUS VI Hero Sata Hard Drive

I can't seem to find an answer anywhere and ASUS can't seem to find my serial number so I'm a bit stuck.
Board is older, but has been a champ.
I "had" 2 4TB Sata drives in the system.
I'm trying to put in 2 8TB Sata drives, but the BIOS won't see the drives.
Checked all connections, nothing....
Even went back to placing one of the old drives back in to test the cable and power and it was seen....
So I'm wondering if this board can't support a larger HD.
Anyone have any input or suggestions?
I did flash the BIOS to the latest available (2014).

Board has 6 Sata connectors.
I simply removed the drives and used the existing cables.
Again, i put the old drive back as a test and the HD showed in the BIOS.
I'm assuming it's an uefi, I'm just old school and use the BIOS Term.
At boot, it states F2 or Del to enter uefi .
(or I'm dumb and missing something)
Appreciate you helping.

I know i'm driving you nuts ,but when you plug in the new hd, can you see it in windows at all? I am asking because you can try to initialize them.
Nope. Not making me nuts.
Windows won’t see them because they don’t show in the BIOS.
Just wonder if the board can’t handle larger drives. The 4s are fine.
But 8 will not show in BIOS or windows.

The new drives use the old 3.3v lines (orange wire usually) as a 'Reset' line for the HDD so it's probably that the drive is in a constant state of Reset.
Either cut the 3.3v wires or use an adapter that doesn't have it. Examples below.
If you cut, be sure to have the PSU switched off or unplugged from the wall.

Thank you for that, but my PS have the sata connectors. No adapters.
I always disconnect the power before any work on the board.

You either need the adapters to work with this new drive or cut the Orange 3.3v line on the power connector going to the 8TB drive. Notice how neither of those adapters have an orange wire?

Your connector from the power supply has 3.3v on the orange wire (almost all power supplies do) causing the drive to be in reset mode which means it's firmware won't boot up to run the HDD. Removing the 3.3v will allow the HDD to start. You have your choice on how to do it: cut or adapter cable. I used an adapter cable myself since I have several.

Well I have no orange wire. They are all completely black. So I’m unsure.
So simply adding a sata splitter will eliminate the potential problem?
I took a photo but can’t see how to send it.

4s are Seagate
8s are WD Reds
IDE states:
Asmedia 106x Sata Controller
ATA Channel O
ATA Channel 1
Intel 8 series c/220 chipset family sata ahci controller

Correct me if I’m wrong here, the windows stuff shouldn’t matter if I can’t get them seen in the BIOS.
