Hello again. Im about to (this week/next week) build a new computer, i will be using either an i5/i7 2gen and ddr 3 ram along with GTX 560 ti gpu. I am planning to use an Asus P8Z68-M PRO Z68 but have also seen good reviews on some of the cheaper AsRock boards for the 1155's. I am leaning against an Asus as my friends and I have had good experiences with the brand. I also like the look of the P8Z68-M pro BIOS. Im just wondering if the Asus is worth the extra money? I will be purchasing from http://www.umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=2. Cheers

Better You spend the extra on cooler as you have thought. Get a good Coolermaster case and go with P8Z68-M Pro simply. Personally I don't believe that the extra will be any worth, that too just for CPU longivity(in your lifetime, you will rarely get any damaged CPU).

As per my experience over ASUS P8Z68M Pro, you will definately enjoy the performance of the board. Upto 32GB expandable RAM, SPDIF & HDMI port, 16 USB, 6.0GB/s & 3GB/s Sata Ports, GPU etc several features are there in this board. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z68M_PRO/#specifications

Well , if you don't have any issue with budget then you can go for the V one. That will suit best.

Then go for P8Z68-M PRO. That will come under your budget and optimum for i5 cpu.

Worth what? Longivity of CPU? Mobo?

Do you expect a PC of today to remain same after 3 or 5 years?

What you call faster one today, will be slowest one after 3 or 5 years. Hard but true.

I understand that my pc won't last that long and plan to upgrade within 2 years. I was just wondering if for the two (approximate years) i will be using the pc, will it be worth the extra $70 for extra longevity and lower temperatures? (Wouldnt i be better off in spending the money on a cooler?)

It entirely depends on what OC you're looking for, on a 4 Phase MOBO you run into a vCore 'wall' especially once you hit 1.45v, in comparison the ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 on average is -0.10v less. So what the ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 can 'do' the ASUS P8Z68-M Pro simply can't. Now if you were looking at a non-K or had little interest in OC'ing then none of this would matter. It's like comparing a Camry to a Corvette or Porsche; 4 wheels, engine, point A -> B, etc.
