So I bought this new monitor ASUS VS207DF as my 9 year old LG L177WSB finally gave up.

However, I am surprised to see that the display quality of this ASUS monitor is absolutely horrible. The resolution (1366 x 768) is poor, the colors look washed out, the brightness seems way too high and the text legibility is also poor.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a driver for this monitor and so I don't know if this is a driver issue or if this monitor is crappy in itself. I cannot think of ASUS launching a monitor of such poor quality. I have calibrated the display but it didn't make much of a difference

My monitor is plugged to my HD 5450 Radeon GPU.

Is there any way to fix this monitor to make the display quality at least acceptable? Any rep from ASUS available on this forum?

Many thanks

When I google that monitor I get nothing, are you sure that is the correct model number? VS270DF does not seem to exist.

The resolution is poor? It's 1366x768, what did you expect? 1366x768 on say a 24in 16:9 panel is not a very dense resolution. If you wanted a higher resolution you should have bought a monitor with a higher resolution, that's not the monitors fault.

As for the colors being washed out, like I said I cant find this monitor on google so I have no idea what panel it is using or how good it is. But you get what you pay for, I would not expect any modern monitor with a 1366x768 resolution to have a quality panel with good color reproduction.

Your monitor has a resolution of 1920x1080. Are the drivers update from your graphics card, or you're using generic windows drivers? What connection are you using: VGA, HDMI, DVI? If you can connect the monitor using a different connection do it and it should solve the problem.

Where did you find that? I cant find any info on the ASUS VS270DF, it does not seem to exist.

Thanks for your prompt response and very sorry for mentioning the wrong model number.

The correct model is VS207DF - https://www.asus.com/Monitors/VS207DF/

I've been googling and I found a monitor that is the vs207df. It has a maximum resolution of 1366x768. You shouldn't expect it to be good. Regarding the colors and brightness you can tweak them in the OSD.

My bad. I assumed a 27inch Asus monitor that has at least that resolution. Icorrected in another post.

Well sorry to say but I am not sure if there is any way for you to improve the quality of that monitor, assuming it is running at it's native resolution, if it isn't the monitor will look terrible. It might just not be a very good panel, which is certainly possible, that monitor was discontinued what seems like long ago and it was a budget monitor to begin with.

Thank you for your response.

I agree it's a budget monitor and it did fall short of my expectations but I think I am gradually getting used to it. I have calibrated it again and now it isn't looking as bad as it did before.

However, I wonder why such an outdated monitor was still available in the market here. I guess that's how things work here in India.

On another note, what do you think of this one - LG 22MP68VQ

Thank you very much for your prompt answers. Highly appreciated
